Caye Caulker is a small white sand island four mile long and barely a
thousand feet wide, part of a chain of islands forming the Belize
Barrier Reef.
Belize is a peaceful democratic country on the Central American
mainland. English is the main language. The island of Caye Caulker is
an easy going place with white sand streets and golf carts for taxis.
The weather is usually quite pleasant year around on Caye Caulker,
casual dress.
No shoes, No Shirt, No Problem.
Good sailing, diving, fishing, and windsurfing  in this Caribbean
island. The reef is about a mile east of the island, creating a protected
area of water between the reef and the eastern side of the island. The
warm clear water invites you to step right in.
Hurricane Hattie in 1961 divided the island in two, creating a
narrow waterway between the two islands. The Split was created and
proved handy for reaching the other side of the Caye. The fishermen
deepened it as small dugout canoes gave way to larger boats. Mother
Nature took over and tidal forces have formed it into a wider, deep,
swift moving channel that truly divides Caye Caulker into two islands.
The Split is a great place to swim and relax.
Nearly everyone lives on the southern island, which is about two
miles long.  The village has about 1200 residents, mostly on the
narrow northern part of South Caye Caulker.
There many interesting people on Caye Caulker whom you may
enjoy meeting.
Everything on the island is a brief, breezy, a bicycle ride away.
      Welcome to Belize.
